Thomas Affolter is an award-winning filmmaker based in Vancouver, BC with over 20 years of experience. With a sensibility toward storytelling that is imminently relevant to society, Thomas writes, directs, and produces films and commercials that run the gamut between comedy and horror, live-action and animation. Great films come in all genres, and the wide variety of his filmography is a testament to that.
Thomas’s work has won or been nominated for over 75 international awards, highlighted by 3 Canadian Screen Award nominations, a Writers Guild of Canada award, and even a Special Jury Mention from Whoopi Goldberg at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival. In the genre space, Thomas recently won Best Documentary for his true-crime feature film “Altona” at the Whistler Film Festival, which also set an all-time streaming record for any film at the world-renowned festival
